Buddhist Arts and Film Festival 2024 Runs May 24–26

The Buddhist Arts and Film Festival (BAFF) 2024 will take place May 24–26 in the Dairy Arts Center, Boulder, Colorado. This is the third BAFF produced by founder Laura Weiss.

This year’s BAFF features eight feature films, both documentaries and dramas, along with some special events. The films are Dark Red Forest, by Jin Huaqing (China), The Mountain Path, by Edward Burger (USA), Wandering…But Not Lost, by Paul MacGowan (India/Nepal), Buster Williams: Bass to Infinity, by Adam Kahan (USA), Geshe Wangyal: With Blessing of the Three Jewels, by Ella Manzheeva (Armenia), Honeygiver Among the Dogs, by Dechen Roder (Bhutan), Crazy Wisdom: The Life and Times of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, by Johanna Demetrakas (USA), and Tukdam: Between Worlds, by Donagh Coleman (Ireland/Finland) screened together with a conversation between Andrew Holecek and Dan Hirshberg.

Special events include an Opening Night performance by Ven. Pannavati Bhikkhuni preceding the screening of Dark Red Forest, a Santi Dance workshop, poetry and meditation by Brooke McNamara, and a performance by Rico Jones and Bill McCrossen will precede the screening of Buster Williams: Bass to Infinity.

Weiss says, “Our theme this year is ‘Path,’ as it represents such a vast, personal, transforming course of action. This course or direction in which we move refers to the Buddha’s enlightened view of life and the actions or attitudes that will create happiness for oneself and others. It is found in the ongoing, dynamic effort to apply wisdom to the questions and challenges of life and society. We offer this festival as a means to project the voices, wisdom and creativity that aim to benefit. It can be seen as an opportunity—to reflect, and to question where we begin, where we’re going and why, and how we get there.”
