URGENT RELIEF FOR MYANMAR

A devastating earthquake struck Myanmar, claiming thousands of lives and further ravaging communities already grappling with the effects of the military coup and civil war. Families are in desperate need of food, water, and medicine. This is a critical moment for action.

[asian woman with tied-back dark hair, in a long sleeved black top, with gray inset at chest, and ornate varied purple shawl, looks to camera while strumming a curved gold trimmed, red tasseled, wooden harp in her lap]Let’s come together in support of immediate disaster relief efforts, and celebrate the enduring spirit and culture of Myanmar.

Please join us for a heartfelt evening of music and film with a traditional Myanmar musical performance by Su Wai and film screening with special guests.

Money Has Four Legs
Directed by Maung Sun
Myanmar / Burmese with English subtitles / 97 min plus Q&A
Sunday, June 22, 4:30 pm
In Person: Q&A with production designer/music supervisor Lone Lone Kavan, moderated by Kenneth Wong, SF-based writer/visual artist

[a happy little asian girl in short skirt and pony tails, runs along a cement walkway with arms out, scattering pigeons amongst the trees to her right and crowd wandering past vendors with opened sun umbrellas to her left]A passionate young director fights to complete his first film amidst government censorship, shady producers, and a chaotic cast—only to find his own life echoing the crime drama he’s trying to make. Witty, inventive, and rich with local texture, this satirical gem blurs the line between fiction and reality while offering a vibrant portrait of Myanmar’s creative spirit today.
