The Thus Have I Seen Buddhist Film Festival (THISBFF), a biennial event in Singapore, takes place September 25–October 8, 2021 in a hybrid in-person/virtual format. Fifteen films from twelve countries will be screened over two weeks.
Highlights of the program include the latest from director Khyentse Norbu, Looking for a Lady with Fangs and a Moustache (Official Selection IBFF 2020); the new documentary about Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche’s four and a half year solo walkabout, Wandering…But Not Lost; Saffron Heart (Official Selection IBFF 2021), a drama focused on a child monk in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in India; and a documentary about the controversial Thai Buddhist organization Dhammakaya, Come and See.
In addition, there will be a special presentation of the 2003 arthouse hit from South Korea, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter…and Spring, by Kim Ki-duk.
In-person screenings will be at the Shaw Theatres Lido and virtual screenings will be streamable from the THISBFF site by viewers in Singapore and Malaysia.
THISBFF was founded in 2009 by local organization Dharma in Action Ltd. with the mission to present cultural and educational programs rooted in Buddhist values and philosophy to the local community. IBFF Singapore took place in 2007 at the Shaw Theatres Lido under the auspices of Asian Buddhist Film Festival Pte. Ltd.
