This remarkable documentary takes us on a journey with renowned American Zen priest Joan Halifax to remote Nepal. For forty years she’s led international expeditions of caregivers, the Nomads Clinic, to villages and rural communities accessible only by foot and horse. Richly informed by the insights of Halifax about social activism, women’s rights, and Buddhist practice, the film is a triumph of story, score, setting, and cinematography, and there’s a real sense of local culture, tradition, and the challenges of change—even the unintended consequences of aid.
